Checking in at the end of April―my Myers-Briggs type, and a favorite funk track as usual
Welcome to this week’s

How are you doing?
April is coming to a close, and I’ve been super busy lately. As the college admissions recruitment cycle grows closer to the end, I’m starting to feel like I’m coming back to myself. I’m still getting my bearings and focusing in my more immediate and personal needs, which is why you all haven't heard much from me this month.
This spring semester, I’ve found few vignettes of being able to sit with and nourish myself holistically (not just through food, but through being able to rest and partake in things that bring me joy and life such as this newsletter) in-between all the madness of both my work and personal life. Tomorrow is my last college fair and work trip of the recruitment season, and I’m looking forward to being able to lay my work bag to rest until the fall. While I enjoy traveling for work, it can be hard to manage my life and take care of my needs and home as a single woman in this job. My health can sometimes take a hit from it as well―although I do bounce back, it’s nice to maintain an equilibrium that’s not disrupted by events, travel, and inconsistent schedules.
With travel for the current recruitment cycle coming to an end, I’m already seeing improvements to my sleep and routines. I’m especially looking forward to pouring more energy back into this space, now that I’ll have recuperated and have the capacity.
Learning more about myself
I have always felt misunderstood by most―t’s been my experience since childhood.
Last month I met someone who asked me what my Myers-Briggs personality type was, to which I told him I was an INTJ. Introversion iNtuition Thinking and Judging are the preferences that make up this type.
He was surprised and delighted because he, too, is an INTJ personality type. He then told me that supposedly only 2% of the world are this type. This surprised me at first, but then I told him that it makes sense, because of how I feel when navigating the world. Upon further research I learned that supposedly only 1% of women in the world are INTJs.
I’ve since been doing a lot of reading up about my personality type as well as many of the other Myers-Briggs types out there, and discussing my findings with my friends. Your Myers-Briggs type is immutable. You may at times take it at different parts of your life where you may get a slightly different type, but it it will most often be the same. Learning about the different types of my friends and others around me has also helped me to understand the world and the dynamics I find myself in. Using the 16Personalities site and even ChatGPT to make sense of how I relate or don’t relate to others, as well as to explore dynamics that work best for me has also been fascinating.
You can take the test yourself here to find yours. I’m curious to know what your types are―leave a comment and let me know below!

Buy yourself flowers and let the sun hit your face this week.
I’m off to pack my bag for this one last overnight trip. Looking forward to connecting and sharing with you all again soon.

I did a Meyers Briggs years ago in college, so I dug around and found the report! I'm an INFP.
Interesting month end letter, I especially like the segment about the Myers Briggs personality types. Also loved your song of the week.
